Hi there!
Since our last newsletter, The Bit Farm has delivered 17 albums, 2 EPs, a few singles and counting. That’s over 200 different songs in a lot of different genres. Plus many of those songs required some de-clicking, de-crackling or other noise removal to make them sound their best. James Anderson even mastered a #1 Classical Music Album on Billboard (see below)! We are grateful to each of the artists and engineers who trusted The Bit Farm to prepare their music for delivery to the world.
It’s Christmas Season here at The Bit Farm. More accurately, Christmas Music Season. If you are preparing a Holiday release, keep us in mind as the place to master your album (tell your musician friends too). We’ll get your tracks polished and ready for streaming, electronic music delivery, video — even CD.
Remember that The Bit Farm is equipped to take on your next audio mastering, archiving or restoration project.

Another Honor For James Anderson:
Billboard #1 Classical Music Album
In June we mastered a #1 album: ‘Joyful: Piano Duets of Gérald Caussé and Nicolas Giusti’.
When recording/mixing engineer Michael Greene and James first talked about this project, Michael said that mastering it might be a challenge.
Recorded in the acoustically-wonderful-but-noisy Assembly Hall on Temple Square in Salt Lake City Utah, he warned that there was some acoustic noise intruded into this performance: noise from the air conditioner, some traffic noise, thumps and groans from the building itself. Michael’s wonderful recording captured all of it. Always up for a good challenge, James surgically removed all that stuff – transparently.
Congratulations to the artists and to Deseret Book for this outstanding achievement!

Recording Soundscapes With Nadja Lind
In August, electronic/ambient music performer, techno/house DJ and recording artist Nadja Lind was in the area. Here for a retreat with the iAwake Technologies team, capturing the incredible ambient spaces created in the natural red rock lands for use in her future music creation was high on her list of stuff to do.
We recorded some beautiful sonic spaces in high-resolution format using some very special technology. The Bit Farm appreciates the opportunity to work with Nadja and the iAwake team on this project. |

ska, Ska, SKA! Late Night Brass
During the live sound phase of my career, I mixed quite a few of the original Ska bands that came through Salt Lake City. When I played back the tracks from Late Night Brass’ LNB album, I heard the same authentic & frenetic energy in their music for which Ska music is known. Yet there was something new, something updated about their presentation I found to be really appealing.
Check ‘em out!

Tech Tip
Guess What Time It Is?
It’s that time of year again! Your friend’s birthday? No… Rotate your tires? Maybe…
The answer is: Time to clean your keyboard and mouse.
Grimy, dirty, sticky keys and a messy mouse or trackball can spread germs and possibly cause them (and you) to stop working altogether. Here’s a good article from the folks at CNet with some tips to safely clean your peripherals. (I particularly like the ‘Cleaning Slime’) 😉
