As agile and inventive, though legally blind at 93 from years of macular degeneration, the multi-talented author, professor, poet, pianist Ed Lueders continues to lift the spirits of passers-by and inspire fans as a volunteer at the Steinway concert grand by the coffee bar in the lobby of the University of Utah Hospital.

His crafty improvisations on venerable old tunes make them perpetually new. These fresh versions, recorded live, without re-takes, at the U of U Medical Center Hospital, are sometimes bold and forthright, more often pensive and wonderfully spare.
